A police standoff has ended safely in Minneapolis.
Police say they got a call shortly after 2 a.m. of a man armed with a long gun. When officers arrived, the man ran into a residence. Police phoned the home and spoke with the suspect, who refused to come out.
Police were told that a 4-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy with whom the suspect has a domestic relationship were in the home as well.
Sgt. William Palmer says officers from the SWAT and Negotiations Team were eventually able to distract him and take him into custody around 6:30 a.m. He says the kids are safe and no shots were fired.
