1 dies of injuries from Texas refinery blast, fire

A man has died a day after an oil refinery explosion and fire in Texas.

The mother of 49-year-old James Dale Sharman says he died Friday of injuries from an explosion at the Delek Refining plant in Tyler.

A spokeswoman for Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas says another worker remains in critical condition.

Tyler Fire Capt. Jeff Akin says plant firefighters were still monitoring a small fire that could burn for days.

Delek Refining President Fred Green says no cause has been determined. Meanwhile, production at the 60,000-barrel-per-day refinery has stopped.

(This version CORRECTS the victim’s name to James Dale Sharman, instead of Dale Sherman.)
