No guts Colts. Monday, December 28th, 2009
What the hell was going on in Indianapolis yesterday? The 14-0 Colts, on a collision course with history, rested their starters against the Jets. Never mind that they would have a chance to do that in two weeks. Forget the fact that the Colts were just the third team to even make it to 14 straight to start the season. The Colts coaches are so afraid of choking in the playoffs that they decided to toss a perfect season out the window just to get the pressure off. Resting starters? B.S. This was all about taking the pressure off the team.

Do we honestly believe that if the great Bill Belichick, God of all coaches, couldn't win the 19th game, then no one can? Did the Pats really lose the Super Bowl in 2007 because they didn't rest their starters? Was being 18-0 a distraction that the Giants were able to use to their advantage? I'd like to believe that they ran into a hot Giants team at the wrong time. That's what I saw.

The Colts performance yesterday is indicative of America as a whole. Just be good enough, and forget about being the best that ever was. What's the matter with a little pressure? What's wrong with showing some guts? What's wrong with saying winning a title isn't enough, that we want to join the Dolphins as the only undefeated Super Bowl champions? From what I saw on the sidelines yesterday, Peyton Manning has guts. Too bad his coach doesn't.
