Kristina has been a fan of Dexter on Showtime for a few years now. Although I've watched it weekly, I was never really into it. It's always been one f those things. I could either stay in the livingroom with my girlfriend watching a crappy show or I could lug my sorry butt up stairs to watch my own show. In the end, laziness won out. Today I found myself doing something unexpected...watching Dexter voluntarily.
I was off last week. I went to my hometown of Waukesha, Wi and stayed with my mom. She does not have Showtime and to be honest, I didn't think much about it at the time. After today's show(Monday) I found myself reading Entertainment Weekly. One of the stories was a "spoiler alert" and said do not read unless you've already seen the season finale of Dexter. This piqued my interest in the show. I needed to know what happened.
If you are not familiar with Dexter here's the premise in a nut shell. Dexter Morgan is blood tech in the Miami Metro Police Department. He also happens to be a serial killer. As a child his father discovered this. Believing his son could not be changed, he decides to mentor him. He sets up rules for his son. Allowing him to feed his murderous needs and not get caught. The show follows Dexter and his killings. Obviously, there is a lot more to the story and if you are interested you should give it a watch.
This season has focused in on a serial killer they call "The Trinity Killer" who is played by John Lithgow. It has been a good story. Interesting thing is people who have been watching for awhile seem to think the premise has worn thin, part of me agrees.
So back to the spoiler. They described it as a "shocking season finale." Those are 3 words I can not resist. So I decided to watch. First, I had to watch last weeks that I missed. Let me tell you, it has a great cliff hanger for an ending. Here' the shocker...I have not watched the last episode yet. I've gone nearly an hour now without watching it. You know why? I called Kristina(the Dexter addict) at her work to ask her what she thought of the ending. She told me "it was on?" Some fan. Now I am stuck waiting for her to get home in order to watch it. I think it will be worth it.
